Do you have to upgrade your mobile phone every year?

We all have a mobile phone, however do we really need the latest phone that is about to come out?

I can see that there are lots of good points and bad points of upgrading a mobile phone every year. Some of the good points are that you will have the latest up to date technology on your phone; you are able to change your phone provider so that you are able to get a better deal. Some of the bad points are that, you have to pay out a considerable amount of money each time you get the latest phone; this could be up to £500.

Some people will change their phones several times thought the year just so that they have the latest up to date phone which they can show off with. They could potentially spend thousands of pounds just on mobile phones, this would include buying the phone and toping up with credit each month or when they need to.

I personally think that we do not need a brand new phone every year and should not just change phones just because the latest one is in the shop. I feel that this is a waste of money when you have a good phone that works just as well. Also what happens to all the old mobiles that are no longer used, you can trade them in or sell them on but you will never get then full price for the phone that you paid,

So do we really need a up to date phone every year?
